Welcome to Five Points Acupuncture and Wellness

Janine Urban L.Ac, M.S. TCM

Acupuncture is a one of many modalities within Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is utilized to bring balance to the body using fine needles gently placed in precise acupuncture points throughout the body. Because acupuncture brings the body back to its natural balance, patients often find that while the complaint they came in with has improved, many other ailments become less noticeable or disappear after as little as one session. This is due to the body's own healing mechanisms being activated by the treatment.

Acupuncture is great at treating stress and the many illnesses associated with it. Many people are familiar with the use of acupuncture for pain, but often may be surprised to find out that it is extremely effective in increasing fertility, diminishing digestive complaints, reducing side effects of chemotherapy (such as nausea and vomiting), improves overall immunity and increases blood count, and treats acute illness such as colds and sinusitis. Acupuncture assists in smoking cessation, addiction, sleep problems, tinnitus, and much more. The gentle nature of acupuncture allows healing to take place as a stand-alone practice or in conjunction with your Western medical treatments.

To increase the efficacy of acupuncture treatments, I also employ the use of cupping, moxabustion, tui na (Chinese massage), gua sha, electro-stimulation, and ear seeds as well as nutritional and supplement advice. Your initial treatment will last approximately 90 minutes and will consist of a conversation about your health history, current health goals and an acupuncture treatment. Each follow up acupuncture treatment will be approximately 50 mins in length.

I live and work in beautiful Buck's county. Prior to my move to Pennsylvania I lived in Denver, CO for 15 years where I earned my Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Environmental Science. It was my passion for ecology and the knowledge that systems must be looked at as a whole when assessing health, that inspired me to wonder, "Why would the human body be any different?" I then earned my Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am currently licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of Pennsylvania and am a National Board-Certified Acupuncturist through NCCAOM. I am looking forward to partnering with you on your journey to healthand wellness!
